Present Simple vs Present Continuous
One more important point of grammar. The forms are easy - but learners often confuse them when they talk.
Ein weiterer wichtiger Grammatikbaustein. Die Formen an sich sind nicht schwer - aber Lerner verwechseln die beiden Formen oft - besonders beim Sprechen.

Present Simple
|
for routines, facts, habits:
I get up at six every morning. |
Für Dinge, die regelmäßig stattfinden oder die man gewohnheitsmäßig tut.
Ich stehe jeden morgen um 6 Uhr auf. |
Present Continuous
|
for things happening at the moment of speaking:
I'm writing a report for my superior. for temporary situations I'm watering my neighbor's plants while he's away. |
Für Dinge, die in dem Moment stattfinden oder ablaufen, in dem man über sie spricht:
Ich schreibe gerade einen Bericht für meinen Vorgesetzten. Für vorübergehende Situationen (also das Gegenteil von Routine !) Ich gieße die Pflanzen meines Nachbarn während er nicht da ist. |
Forms of the present simple
I speak
you speak he / she / it speaks we speak they speak |
Forms of the present continuous
I am speaking
you are speaking he / she / it is speaking we are speaking they are speaking |
a) I work at a garage.
this is my job - I do this every day. das ist mein Beruf - ich tue das jeden Tag. |
b) I'm watering the plants.
1) at this moment / in diesem Moment 2) temporarily / vorübergehend |
If you compare these two sentences, you can see why it's important to use the two tenses correctly:
Wenn man diese beiden vergleicht wird klar, wie wichtig es ist, die beiden Zeitformen richtig zu benutzen:
I work for language point. This is my job - I do this every day.
I'm working for language point. This is a temporary thing only!
Hier ist der Job wohl nur "ein Job", vielleicht nur eine Übergangslösung.
So be careful what you tell people! ;-)
Also Vorsicht!

Wo gehören denn nun die "adverbs of frequency" hin - also die Wörter, die Häufigkeit ausdrücken (von immer bis nie) ?
before the VERB:

but after BE:
