So do I ::: Neither do I ::: I do
In English there are different ways to agree to something - or to disagree with it. What you say depends on what the other has said before: if their statement was "positive" or "negative".
If someone says something positive you want to agree with, you can say:
So do I. |
I like shopping in the mall.
So do I. |
I like shopping in the mall.
|
So do I.
|
If someone says something positive you want to disagree with, you can say:
I don't. |
I like shopping in the mall.
I don't. |
I like shopping in the mall.
|
I don't.
|
If someone says something negative you want to agree with, you can say:
Neither do I. |
I don't like shopping in the mall.
Neither do I. |
I don't like shopping in the mall.
|
Neither do I.
|
If someone says something negative and you disagree with this you can say:
I do. |
I don't like shopping in the mall.
I do. |
I don't like shopping in the mall.
|
I do.
