The mystery of look watch and see revealed
It's pretty easy:
look = turn your eyes in a direction to look at something
look = turn your eyes in a direction to look at something
watch = look at something moving (bird-watching; watch a movie; watch a game of tennis)
see = the result of looking at something or watching something
So:
I look at you and then I see you.
I watch a movie and then I have seen it.
For specialists only ;-) : Altthough most of us say I watch a movie on TV tonite we would say I'm going to see a movie in the movie theater tonite.
Well, language never follows rules THAT strictly, I'm afraid ... ;-)
